Clare Parry has exhibited in shows in LA, New York, San Francisco, San Diego, and Pittsburgh alone this year and has a permanent site-specific installation at Flux Factory in Long Island City, New York. She recently had a selection of her writing from her book, Restoration & Ruin featured in Concrete Utopia's "I'm Not a Good Enough Feminist" publication, alongside Yvonne Rainer, Carolee Schneemann, Mira Schor, Risa Shoup, Joan Snitzer, and Debora Spar.
Occasionally, Clare works alongside collaborator Julia Westerbeke on installations. They met while attending the MFA program at the University of California, San Diego where they quickly bonded over mutual shared fascinations and an intense longing for New York amidst the looming, bright Southern California sun.
Clare received her MFA from the University of California, San Diego (2009) and her BFA from Carnegie Mellon (2004). She has also been a resident at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts (VCCA) as a Dodge Fellow (2006), Harold Arts (2007), The New Childrens Museum of San Diego (2008), the de Young Museum (2009), and The Wassaic Project (2011).
You can currently see her newest works on view in the follow exhibits this summer: ret·ro·spec·tive, [re-truh-spek-tiv] adjective at ModernFormations (Pittsburgh, PA), "chain letter" at Shoshanna Wayne Gallery (Santa Monice, CA), and "Ode Hotel" at The Wassiac Project Summer Festival 2011 (Wassaic, NY).
