My painted spatial maps challenge the fragmentation of space and strive for coalescence. The composite whirlwinds unify multi-faceted, dissociated elements within the abstract composition; like the parts of a pattern, all the fragments are essential to vitality. These bounded cosmologies embody a vibrant hope of renewal, reading as cartographic plans for fantastic ideal spaces, freeing the social structures from their designated function. Life is inundated with chaotic random events, yet, hidden beneath the pandemonium are pure forms and order. I search for this order and aspire to visually create a new spatial code, investigating space to understand the linkage between the different parts of contemporary social systems.
Space is split into conflicting realms; although this lack of cohesion can be attributed to many factors, it is primarily the compartmentalization of space resulting from its division in the formal zoning of urban planners. In contemporary space, even natural or organic space is allotted as it vanishes further due to overdevelopment. Natural space is receding into the background of the picture, much like backdrop of wallpape. I am particularly intrigued by what seems to be a simultaneous divergence and convergence in spatial allocation of both the social structures of architecture and forms of nature. As urban expansion claims excessive space, there is a compulsion to bring nature indoors through decorative elements inspired by nature, breaking the bleak geometry of walls. These patterns persist everywhere taking on the symbolic weight of growth and vitality.
The two distinct layers converge, one layer cannot be examined without focusing on the other, adding dimensionality and depth. The colorful patterns juxtapose with the concentration of lines, creating a conflict of tenuous forces, which remain harmonious. As the lines become organic, the layered architectural schematics transform into patterns. They trick the eye and transcend the restrictions of linear art by playing off the others plane. Thus, the pattern escapes its plane and rises through the transparent layer to become a homogeneous collision.
