Clare Parry grew up in New York City, spending equal amounts of time on both sides of the Hudson between Brooklyn and the suburbs of New Jersey. She recently received her MFA from the University of California, San Diego and received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2004. Clare has exhibited her work nationally and has recently participated in shows in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and San Diego. Most recently, she installed a permanent site-specific piece at Flux Factory’s new location in Long Island City, New York.

Clare occasionally works on installations alongside collaborator, Julia Westerbeke. They both attended the MFA program at the University of California, San Diego and quickly bonded over mutual shared fascinations and an intense longing for New York amidst the looming, bright Southern California sun. This past December, they completed a month long residency at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. In 2008, Clare and Julia also teamed up for an eight week residency at the New Children’s Museum of San Diego, creating ‘The Wonder Parlor’, a sprawling interactive installation of furniture and collage.

Clare has completed residencies at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts (VCCA) as a Dodge Fellow (this residency was supported by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation)(2006), the Harold Arts and Music Residency (2007), The New Children’s Museum’s Artist Residency Program (2008), and the de Young Museum (2009).
